Vanilla French toast

Dessert for breakfast?  Yes please!

I work at an office during the week and I never get up early enough to enjoy a good breakfast. My Mom always made breakfast for me when I was younger, sometimes she used to make us bolillos (Mexican bread) toasted with butter and sprinkled with granulated sugar. I decided to give it a spin and make croissant French toast sprinkled with powdered sugar.

Here’s the French toast recipe which is good for two people.

Ingredients

2 croissants cut in half (1 used almond croissant and a regular croissant from Porto’s bakery)

1 egg

¼ cup of milk

Vanilla extract

Granulated sugar and berries for topping

Unsalted butter for cooking

Steps:

1. Place egg in a bowl with milk

2. Add vanilla

3. Beat for about one minute with whisk

4. Preheat pan and add butter

5. Dip the croissants in the egg mixture

6. Place in skillet until nice and brown. I like mine toasted so I leave them a little longer. Turn and cook on the other side.

7. Sprinkle with regular granulated sugar and serve with berries or any fruit you prefer.

Here is the regular portos croissant, I know it’s not the healthiest breakfast but it’s definitely worth the calories every now and then. ¡Buen provecho!
